  • Remove the drain by unscrewing the slip nut from the p-trap. Place a bucket underneath the hole since there might be some residual water remaining.
  • The drain should be disconnected from the flange from the tail by unscrewing it.

Fixing the new faucet

The instruction manual provided by the manufacturer for the new faucet comes handy during installation. First and foremost, the gasket is used for fixing the faucet, followed by the sealant, or the plumber’s putty as they call it.

  • You need to fix the nut way down on the tail piece and push the gasket over it to fix the drain. If you can use the screw, do so.
  • The drain bottom needs a little bit of sealant to do the job under the flange, and you screw the flange from the top side.
  • The drain rod is the next to be installed. The pivot nut has to be unscrewed onto the drain body. Insert the horizontal rod into the stopper, replace the nut. The lift rod should be secured after the horizontal rod is pushed down to the strap with the screw, which has to be checked with the lift rod.
  • Reconnect the supply lines, and check if there’s uninterrupted water flow after opening the water valves to the water supply.

The faucet has to be flushed after removing the aerator to get rid of any sediment that may have clogged the faucet. Finally, check that all the screws and tighten them if necessary. Allow the hot and cold water to flow for a minute to check if the connection is done right.
